What To Expect

What To Expect :

The first time I meet your horse, I will perform a whole horse muzzle-to-hoof assessment. This involves gathering medical history, getting to know about their day-to-day, palpation, and movement assessment (if appropriate). I am looking at their posture, range of motion, muscular asymmetries, and imbalances. Some horses are more tolerant of the hands-on nature of massage than others and I tailor our time together to suit their individual level of comfort. After assessment, the session itself will typically last 60-90 minutes. I ask that you are present for the entirety of our first appointment if possible, but at minimum for the initial assessment. In some cases, your horse’s needs may be out of the scope of what bodywork can help with. In those cases, I will recommend a veterinary examination as follow-up to our visit. Ideally, a 10 minute brisk hand walk after their session helps to familiarize the horse to improvements made to their range of motion and freed restrictions. The next day should be an *easy* ride, or rest with turnout. I also do not advise scheduling their first session within a week prior to an important show. Change takes time, and the body needs time to adjust.

Preparing for Your Horse’s Session:

Please have your horse caught from the field, dry, and briefly brushed down before a session. For obvious reasons, scheduling sessions outside of feed-time is a superb idea! Our session can be performed in any low-traffic space, protected from inclement weather, with good ventilation and/or fans. That can be a stall, grooming area, run-in shed, cross-ties… Wherever your HORSE is most comfortable is where I am most comfortable.

***Cancellation Policy ***

A no call/no show results in full session charge + quoted travel fees.

I understand the nature of emergencies and unpredictable events, but there will be a $50 fee for appointments cancelled/rescheduled with less than 24 hours notice.
